Members of Opiatoha K’ idoma, have condemned in strong terms, the prolonged detention of Barrister Godwin Obla, (SAN), by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, (EFCC).

The social cultural organisation, championing the course of Idoma kingdom within the Benue South senatorial district, believes, contrary to constitutional provision (s), Obla has been held by the EFCC in its custody for almost two weeks.

A statement by the Secretary General of the umbrella body, Chief Adoka Adaji however, called on the operatives of EFCC to release their son, Obla, with immediate effect or at best, charge him to competent court of law for proper adjudication.

The statement read in part: “we are saddened that Barrister Obla who has always exhibited diligent conduct, could be humiliated in this manner by the EFCC whose cases he had handled with utmost best”.

Chief Adaji stated that the Opiatoha k’idoma, does not support corruption in any way but that EFCC must show decorum in its anti-graft war as against the status quo, adding that the battle will be lost if impunity becomes the order of the day.

The organisation maintained that Obla is held in high esteem in the Idoma nation and any attempt to rubbish him would not be condoned.
