 Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Edo 
state governorship election, says God has told him to recover his 
“stolen” mandate.<br />

Addressing some protesters in Benin, capital of the state, on Friday,
 Ize-Iyamu alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission 
(INEC) robbed him of victory.<br />

He said the alleged robbery of the Edo people’s mandate would not 
stand, adding that he had been seeking God’s intervention in the past 
few days.<br />

Ize-Iyamu said while his supporters had refused to be violent, those 
who were given the victory by INEC were ashamed of celebrating.<br />

Dan Orbih, chairman of the PDP in Edo, said the party was putting everything in place to defend democracy.<br />

Appealing to the protesters to eschew violence, Orbih maintained that the will of the people must prevail.<br />

Ize-Iyamu’s statement comes barely 24 hours after Godwin Obaseki of 
the All Progressives Congress (APC), who won the election said he was 
dedicating his victory to God.

DSS operatives clash with Wike at federal judge’s residence in Rivers

There
 was confusion in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, in the early 
hours of Saturday as operatives of the Department of State Services and 
the police besieged the house of a Federal High Court judge.<br />

It was gathered that the security operatives had stormed the residence to arrest the judge.<br />

It was gathered that the state governor, Nyesom Wike, who rushed to the scene, was harassed by the operatives.<br />

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Electronic Media, Mr. Simeon
 Nwakaudu, who said the incident happened in the wee hours of Saturday, 
said Wike was pushed around by the DSS and policemen<br />

Nwakaudu said, “The illegal failed abduction was led by Mr. Tosin 
Ajayi, Rivers State Director of the Department of State Services and 
Rivers State Police Commissioner, Mr. Francis Odesanya.”<br />

“The operatives of DSS reportedly rough-handled Governor Wike, 
pushing him around and injuring his hand. A few of the operatives cocked
 their rifles and threatened to shoot the Governor.<br />

“They were irked by Governor Wike’s arrival at the scene shortly 
after the failed abduction process began. It was learnt that Governor 
Wike received security information on the illegal moves, minutes after 
the operation started.<br />

“The security operatives blocked the entrance of the residence of the
 Federal High Court judge at about 1am on Saturday morning, claiming 
that they were acting on orders from above. As they dragged Governor 
Wike, they insisted that they must be allowed to leave with the judge.”

PRESS STATEMENT BY THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE SERVICES<br />

The Department of State Services (DSS) in the past few days, has 
embarked on series of special sting operations involving some Judges of 
the Supreme, Appeal and High Courts. These operations were based on 
allegations of corruptions and other acts of professional misconduct by a
 few of the suspected Judges. The Service action is in line with its 
core mandate, as we have been monitoring the expensive and luxurious 
lifestyle of some of the Judges as well as complaints from the concerned
 public over judgment obtained fraudulently and on the basis amounts of 
money paid.<br />

The judges involved were invited, upon which due diligence was 
exhibited and their premises searched. The searches have uncovered huge 
raw cash of various denominations, local and foreign currencies, with 
real estate worth several millions of Naira and documents affirming 
unholy acts by these Judges. Meanwhile, some of them have made useful 
statements while a few have declined even with the glaring evidences 
that were found against them in terms of material cash, documents and 
property recovered pointing to their compromise.<br />

In one of the States where the Service operations were conducted, 
credible intelligence revealed that the Judge had Two Million United 
States Dollars ($2,000,000 USD) stashed in his house. When he was 
approached for due search to be conducted, he in concert with the State 
Governor, mobilized thugs against the Service team. The team restrained 
itself in the face of unbridled provocative activities by those brought 
in by the Governor. Unfortunately, the Judge and Governor also engaged 
the tacit support of a sister security agency.<br />

The Service surveillance team noticed that upon frustrating the 
operation, the Judge with the active support of the Governor craftily 
moved the money to an unknown location which the Service is currently 
making effort to unravel.<br />

Meanwhile, large amount including foreign/local currencies have been recovered. Summaries of these include:<br />

SUMMARY OF RECOVERED MONEY<br />
1. NAIRA – N93,558,000.00<br />
2. DOLLARS – $530,087<br />
3. POUNDS – £25,970<br />
4. EURO – €5,680<br />

Other foreign currencies were also recovered. This were recovered from just three (3) of the judges.<br />

These in addition to other banking documents, including real estate 
documents have been recovered. Meanwhile preparations are ongoing to 
arraign them in a competent court of jurisdiction in line with the laws 
of the nation.<br />

The Service would want to clearly state that it has never invited 
Justice Walter NKANU ONNOGHEN for investigation, neither is he being 
investigated by this Service. In addition the Service would like to put 
it on record, that it has tremendous respect for the Judiciary and would
 not do anything to undermine it or its activities. The Service will 
also join hands with this noble institution in its fight to rid it of 
few corrupt Judges whose actions is undermining not only the Judiciary 
but the common bond of our national life.<br />

Ladies and gentlemen, this current operation will be sustained and 
followed till sanity and sanctity is restored to the esteemed third arm 
of government and public confidence is regained.<br />

Members of the public are also encouraged to avail the Service of any
 information which could assist in this drive to rid our nation of 
corrupt practices and tendencies.<br />

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has rewarded Mrs. Lateefat
 Omolola Tijani, a Paralympics Silver Medalist from Ogun State, with a 
cash prize of N1m while her coach, Mrs. Kemi Oyebola, was given a cash 
prize of N500,000.<br />

Ogun State Governor, Adejuwon Soyinka , in addition to the cash prize, 
the governor also promised to provide the Paralympian with training kits
 of her choice that could aid her preparation for the next Paralympic 
games.
Governor Amosun also charged the Paralympian to ensure that she wins a 
Gold medal at the next Paralympics.<br />
<br />
The governor stated this, on Wednesday, when Mrs. Tijani and her coach, 
Mrs. Kemi Oyebola, came to present the Silver medal she won in the 45kg 
weightlifting category of the just concluded Paralympics game in Rio De 
Janeiro, Brazil, to the governor at his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta office.<br />
<br />
While congratulating the Silver medalist for the feat, Governor Amosun urged her not to relent in her quest for excellence.<br />
The governor also seized the occasion to appreciate the coach, family 
and all those who supported Mrs. Tijani to achieve this laudable feat.
Responding, Mrs. Tijani thanked the governor for what she described as 
his “kind gesture and support for sports.”<br />
<br />
She added that with the governor’s support:<br />

The Federal Government has filed a motion to withdraw the charge of 
criminal conspiracy and forgery of senate standing order against Senate 
President Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu. A litigation 
officer from the Federal Ministry of Justice, Odubu Loveme, yesterday 
Thursday October 6th, filed an affidavit in support of the motion before
 the High Court of Abuja.<br />
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a>Saraki and Ekweremadu, as well as a former Clerk of 
the National Assembly, Salisu Maikasuwa, and a former Deputy clerk, Ben 
Efeturi, were on June 20th first arraigned before Justice Yusuf Halilu, 
on charges of forgery of the senate standing order during the senate 
leadership election in June last year. <br />
<br />
They all pleaded not guilty on July 27, 2016.
In the motion filed Thursday, Saraki and Ekweremadu were dropped from 
the case while Maikasuwa and Efeturi would continue to face trial over 
the case.

Why You Must Stop Shaving Pubic Hair

Contrary
 to well acclaimed hygienic practice, a medical expert has warned of the
 dangers in completely shaving the pubic hair. Dr Arikawe Adeolu, an 
Abuja-based medical expert, advised that it is safer to trim the hair 
rather than shaving it off completely. He said that complete shaving of 
the hair could cause infection.<br />

Adeolu told our correspondent on Tuesday that shaving or waxing of 
the hair around the pubic could cause cracks and expose the skin to 
bacterial infection.<br />

He added that the pubic hair served a major purpose of providing some
 level of cushioning for the individual, especially during sexual 
activity, preventing the skin from rubbing against another and causing 
abrasion.<br />

He explained that if the skin around the pubic region was completely 
shaved and the individual’s skin came into contact with another person’s
 skin, friction would be increased due to the skin to skin contact.<br />

He advised that individuals who were worried about the lack of 
hygiene due to untended pubic hair should consider trimming rather than 
complete shaving or waxing of the hair.<br />

“When you completely shave the pubic hair, it re-grows in a slanted 
fashion with the tip sometimes growing into the pubic skin, which can 
crack open the skin.<br />

“It is usually a small crack which cannot be seen with the Unclad 
eyes but due to this crack and loss of integrity of the skin at that 
level, there is increased risk of getting infection.<br />

“Complete shaving can also cause boil to develop in that region. This
 is because when you shave, you cause some level of abrasion in the area
 which opens up the skin.<br />
“These small openings cannot be seen with the eye but they are big enough for the micro organisms to get into the body.<br />

“Also, because the pubic area is always moist, this serves as breeding ground for organisms like bacteria.”<br />
Adeolu said that trimming the pubic hair would also help to reduce the 
risk of contacting Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI), which could 
also be contacted when fluid from an infected partner’s Instruments came
 into contact with the pubic area.<br />

According to him, if the partner is already infected, the virus in 
the Fluid or body fluid can easily penetrate the skin of the other to 
infect the individual.<br />

He said that this infection was mostly caused by a virus known as 
‘Molluscum contagiosum’, adding that there had been significant increase
 in incidences of such infection in hospitals.<br />

“It is a viral infection that is also categorised as an STI. It 
affects the skin and does not need treatment; usually after a couple of 
weeks or months, the symptoms go away by themselves.<br />

“You also have an increased risk of contacting other STIs such as 
HIV, Hepatitis, genital warts by complete shaving of the pubic hair,’’ 
Adeolu said.

Chinese People Engage In Sleeping Competition

seven-day National Day holiday, also known as “the Golden Week”, some 
people in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, are packing their sleepwear for
 a sleeping competition.</div>

The competition lasted two days and 
participants needed to sleep on their deck chair from 9:30 am to 7:30 
pm. During the 10-hour sleeping marathon, the competitors cannot leave

 extended national caucus of  PDP has endorsed the peace move by the 
Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee to reconcile with the 
disputed National Chairman of the party, Alhaji  Ali Modu Sheriff and 
his faction.</div>

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, 
Prince Dayo Adeyeye, disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja while briefing
 newsmen after the party’s caucus meeting.</div>

Adeyeye said that the purpose of the meeting was to brief the caucus on the move and get its endorsement.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The caucus is made up of PDP governors, National Assembly caucus, Board of Trustees and other stakeholders.</div>

“Members of the caretaker committee are 
not there on their own, they were appointed by the party and they have 
to carry the party along in all they are doing.</div>

“The peace move has been finally endorsed and supported by members of caucus without any dissent voice,” he said.</div>

Adeyeye, however, said there were no factions in the party but aggrieved members.</div>

“We don’t have factions in PDP. There are some of our members who are aggrieved.</div>

“We are making moves to ensure peace in the party,” he said.</div>

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls
  that Makarfi and Sheriff in September expressed determination to 
settle the party leadership crisis.</div>

While the national leader backed Abraham for the ticket, forces in the

A Dailymail report has revealed that Norwegian Prime Minister Erna 
Solberg was spotted playing Pokemon Go game during a debate in her 
country’s Parliament.</div>

The report further revealed that it is not the first time Ms 
Solberg, 55, has been spotted trying to ‘catch them all’, after telling 
reporters she was trying to ‘hatch eggs’ during an official trip to 
Slovakia.</div>

Hatching eggs is one of the side features of the game, where 
players can obtain eggs at ‘Pokestops’ dotted around maps and then 
‘hatch’ them by walking a certain distance – 2km, 5km or 10km.</div>

A picture of the leader on Pokemon Go appeared in a Norwegian 
newspaper and she reacted with good grace, writing on Twitter that 
‘women can do two things at once’.</div>

It comes weeks after another Norwegian politician was spotted

parliament’s Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee was broadcast live.</div>

Ms Grande was accused of caring more about the game than issues of 
national security, but during a break from the meeting, Ms Grande 
defended her actions saying she has a head that ‘listens better when she
 is doing brain dead’ activities.</div>

And ironically, it was Ms Grande who was addressing Parliament when
 the Prime Minister was spotted making the same faux pas as she did in

President Muhammadu Buhari and his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, 
have been named the Leadership Newspaper’s persons of the year.<br />

They were named alongside the immediate past chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commision, INEC, Attahiru Jega.<br />

Leadership announced the awards on Thursday at an event at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.<br />

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu 
Dogara, has abruptly left the venue of the event where President Buhari 
is seated.<br />

Mr. Dogara left alongside some members of the House of Representatives, including House Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila.<br />

The Speaker was one of the recipients of the annual awards by Abuja-based paper.<br />

Mr. Dogara left immediately after the key note speaker, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, began his speech.

The House of Representatives on Tuesday called on the security 
agencies in the country to intensify rescue efforts for high school 
students and teachers kidnapped in Lagos State on Thursday morning.<br />

The call came just as police confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES that two of 
the students have regained freedom while search continues for the 
others, including the school principal.<br />

The House’s resolution followed a motion by Wale Raji, a lawmaker from the state, under matters of urgent national importance.<br />

The House heard from Mr. Raji how some suspected kidnappers attacked 
Government Model College, Igbonla, Epe, on Thursday morning just as 
students were observing early morning prayers in the assembly.<br />

Mr. Raji said he was told about the development shortly after the 
House resumed plenary today and he was compelled to bring it to the 
attention of the House and, by extension, the country.<br />

“I am just learning that a group of kidnappers struck today in my 
constituency where they kidnapped students and principals,” Mr. Raji 
said.<br />

The police spokesperson in Lagos State, Bisi Kolawole, told PREMIUM 
TIMES two of the students have been rescued, leaving two more students, a
 teacher and the school principal.<br />

“We’re still on their trail to rescue the others who include the 
principal, a teacher and two students,” Ms. Kolawole, an assistant 
commissioner of police, said.

countries but the way Guardiola works and puts pressure on his players 
will change football here a bit.<br />

“His biggest challenge is to change the direct style of football. Now
 in England the football is more direct, with big centre-backs. I 
couldn’t play there because I’m too small.<br />

“Guardiola wants to start playing from the back with intelligent play
 from the goalkeeper. It doesn’t mean he won’t play long like against 
Manchester United when they scored a goal with three touches, but it’s 
the whole style. He is based on ball possession and playing from the 
back.<br />

“I have seen his influence on the team very quickly. He is doing very
 well, he has very clear ideas which he tries to transmit to the 
players. He is the best coach I ever worked with and I’m pleased to see 
him in England.<br />

“There are a lot of coaches worse than him. He puts a lot of pressure
 on the players but the players feel free under Guardiola. It’s tough 
but I understand football like that, I enjoy it.<br />

“Guardiola thinks everyone can improve and play at a higher level – 
and every player improves with him. It also motivates the players to

 National Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under the 
leadership of Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, rejected the outcome of 
the Edo State governorship election won by Godwin Obaseki of the All 
Progressives Congress (APC).<br />

The caucus described the victory of the APC candidate as day light robbery.<br />

PDP’s candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamo, came second at the guber election which held on September 28.<br />

A statement signed by head, publicity division for national publicity
 secretary, Adm. Chinwe I. Nnorom, said “The National Caucus frowned at 
the brazen display of avarice and desperation against the Edo 
electorates and democracy on September 28 and 29, 2016 by the ruling APC
 in collaboration with INEC and security agencies all in the name of 
Governorship Election.<br />

“Consequently, the Meeting unanimously rejected the outcome of the charade that took place in Edo State.<br />

“Finally, the National Caucus calls on all our Party members 
nationwide and in Edo State in particular to remain calm and resilient 
in the face of this daylight robbery of their mandate to our Candidate, 
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. We believe that justice will be served.”<br />

Former
 Black Stars player and coach, Malik Jabir believes that Ghana’s club 
players are not doing well because beautiful Ghanaian girls have made 
them weaker.<br />

Malik who coached the Black Stars in 2003 said in a national radio 
that Ghana players indulge in too much sex rather than train and improve
 their strength and skills.<br />

The
 President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has 
raised an alarm over paucity of fund to facilitate the Super Eagles’ 
World Cup qualifiers against the Chipolopolo of Zambia. The match will 
hold in Ndola on Sunday.<br />

Pinnick, who appeared before the Senate Committee on Sports, in 
Abuja, lamented that lack of adequate funding was frustrating efforts by
 the NFF to operate efficiently.<br />

He said: “Nigeria was paired against Zambia, Cameroun and Algeria. It
 is a group that is called “group of death,” which means we need to 
intensify our preparations. We need to monitor our players and make sure
 that the ticket is made available.<br />

“The good news is that I think we have a very sound technical crew 
and we also have a lot of our players doing very well, but the missing 
link is our financial incapacitation, which activates practically 
everything you do on the field and off the field.<br />

“Before now, we have sent representation to government for 
intervention because funds were not coming in from our sponsors, which 
relates to the economy of the country at the moment, and is being very 
difficult for them. That is what they claim. So, we didn’t have any 
option than to result to writing to government, which we did and we are 
still awaiting response from them and the match is in five days.”<br />

The NFF boss said a chartered flight arrangements had been made with 
Arik Airline, which has assigned a technical crew. He revealed that the 
federation was able to secure accommodation in Protea Hotel, which is 10
 minutes away from the stadium, but it had not been able to pay for it.<br />

“We have been able to secure about 60 to 70 rooms but we need to make
 some payments so that they (the hotel) will keep the rooms because 
everybody from Zambia wants to come and watch that game and that is our 
predicament.<br />

“Beyond that, we are also looking at the next game against Algeria, 
which is coming up on November 9 in Uyo (Akwa Ibom State). The Algerian 
national team has informed me that they are coming with two to three 
private jets that will be bringing their team.<br />

“As it is, everybody is taking this championship or qualifiers very, 
very serious but, like I said, the good news about us is that we have a 
very good team and we have a strong technical crew.”

It
 was the handiwork of the devil, said a 28-year-old man, Mr. Bethel 
Samuel, yesterday, while confessing to Rivers State Police officers how 
he raped a three-year-old girl at Rumuolumeni community in Obio/Akpor 
Local Government Area of the state.<br />

Samuel, who said he was an aide to a Pentecostal church clergyman in 
Port Harcourt, told the police that he had carnal knowledge of the girl 
at his principal’s house.<br />

Narrating the incident to the Public Relations Officer of the 
command, Nnamdi Omoni, and the Divisional Police Officer of Rumuolumini,
 Mr. Bethel Samuel described his action as the handiwork of the devil.<br />

Samuel said: “It is stupidity that led me to sexually harass the 
little girl. If I will be given a second chance, I must surely be a good
 person. Police and the parents of the girl should have mercy and 
consider what happened as an act of the devil.<br />

“I am the Personal Assistant to my pastor; we were organising our 
crusade, going out to paste crusade posters when my pastor called me to 
say he forgot something at home.<br />

“He directed me to go to his house and bring some money. When I got 
there, I saw children playing and grabbed one of them. That was what 
happened.<br />

“It is purely the handiwork of the devil. I don’t know what happened;
 all I know is that I am not happy with what is happening to me. I am 
calling on the parents and the police to have mercy on me. I am 
promising the government and the parents that if they allow me to go 
free, I will never misbehave again.”<br />

Meanwhile, Omoni said police had placed zero tolerance on rape and other criminalities in the state.

subheads to finance other projects without the appropriate approvals for
