David Oyedepo, the presiding bishop of Living Faith Church worldwide aka 
Winners’ Chapel, has berated critics of his church-owned Covenant 
University, Ota, Ogun State.<br />

According to these critics, the tuition fees of the missionary high 
institution are roof-high, making  education way out of poor people’s 
reach.<br />

<br />

However, Oyedepo speaking during a podcast shared to members during the weekend was quoted saying:<br />

“<em><strong>The school fees has God’s approval and is in accordance 
with the quality of facilities provided by the university in meeting the
 educational needs of the nation</strong></em>.”</blockquote>
<br />

The well-respected pastor also acknowledged that one of the school 
fees critics was infected with a chronic disease and it took his 
(Oyedepo’s) intervention “before he was restored to dignity.”

    <em><strong> OVWE MEDEME caught up 
with her at the recent launch of her new concept, Linda Ikeji Social, 
and she talks about her struggle so far.</strong></em><br />
<br />

<b>10 years is a long time. How would you describe the journey so far?</b><br />

The journey has been amazing. I didn’t expect to be here today 
because when I started hustling in those days, social media wasn’t 
popular in Nigeria. The first thing that I came across was blogging. And
 to be honest, when I started in November 2006, the last thing on my 
mind was that it was going to change my life as much as it has. It was 
just a place for me to be creative because I love to write stuff down 
and I didn’t think that ten years from now, this would happen. So it 
wasn’t something that I envisioned. It’s been an amazing journey, 
definitely something that I’m extremely grateful for. A lot of us are on
 social media but not everyone can say that it has changed their lives 
so tremendously. So I’m really grateful for how far I’ve come.<br />
<br />

<b>Before you started making money from the blog, were you not at some point frustrated?</b><br />

So many times. The worst was definitely September 19 2010. It was my 
30th birthday. I was broke, I was angry because I had been doing nothing
 for a long time and I was still struggling, I was still borrowing 
money. So I was extremely depressed and very angry with myself. I felt 
like a failure. I would cry a lot and then open my laptop to blog. I 
didn’t know that was where God was leading me to. And so, after my 30th 
birthday, my life really changed.<br />

<b>You’ve carried a lot of controversial news, particularly about 
artistes. What is your relationship with them like, especially Wizkid?</b><br />

I don’t want to talk about Wizkid. To be honest, I have a cordial 
relationship with other entertainers. I’ve had run-ins with a few of 
them but in recent times, that hasn’t happened. It was when I was being 
carefree and careless with stories that I write. But apart from him, in 
the past year, I’ve not had a big issue with anybody.<br />
<br />

<b>How have you been able to manage it with all the threats that are thrown your way? Doesn’t that leave you scared?</b><br />

The only person that threatened me was him. No it doesn’t scare me. I
 do more good for them than they acknowledge. Some of them are my 
friends, some of them have been to my house but the negativity that 
comes with blogging is fine. Some people will take offence, some will 
react in different ways. I’ve been doing this for ten years. If by now 
I’m not used to the backlash, then I should get out of the business.<br />

<b>From the feedback you get, do you feel loved or hated?</b><br />
<br />

It’s a combination of both. I get a lot of hate and I get a lot of 
love. But I try as much as possible to hold on to the love and not pay 
attention to the hate because I know the hate is coming from a very 
different place.<br />

Sometimes when I trend and I see some vile comments about me, I’m 
like, you’ve never met me, why are you saying these kinds of things 
about me? I’ve grown such a thick skin, I just look at it and I laugh. I
 know when people are frustrated and depressed because I have been 
there. I’ve been depressed and I’ve been angry and my anger was always 
towards those who are successful and when I say hurtful things about 
them, it makes me feel better. So I allow them that grace to just vent. I
 understand that success comes with a lot of hate.<br />

In fact, that is one of the ways to know you’re really doing well. 
But of course, I get a lot of love. I get a lot of people who tell me 
that I inspire them and those are the ones I pay attention to.<br />
<br />

<b>Have you lost any valuable friendship because of a story you wrote?</b><br />

Absolutely not; I haven’t. I’ve lost people who don’t agree with what I do but nothing valuable.<br />
<br />

<b>With this your new concept, don’t you think you are taking on too much at a time?</b><br />

I’ve been blogging for ten years and I’m bored. I want to do 
something else. I’m 36, this is the time I have the energy and passion 
to run this. Besides, I’m delegating. I have a staff of over 30 people 
working here. So it’s not too much really. I think people try to limit 
themselves. I don’t limit myself at all. I feel like there’s absolutely 
nothing I can’t do.<br />
<br />

<b>You made a video on your birthday where you talked about a lot of things. Why did you do that?</b><br />

I just wanted to talk about it. It was my birthday and I just wished I
 was married. It’s now that I want to get married. I don’t wish I was 
married earlier.<br />
<br />

<b>Are you saying you’re not getting proposals from men?</b><br />

I’m getting quite a lot. People say that when you’re successful, men 
run away. It’s a lie. That is when they chase you the more. But 
unfortunately I haven’t seen what I’m looking for. It was my birthday 
and I just wanted to talk about it.<br />
<br />

<b>What are you looking for?</b><br />

I keep telling people. It’s not that men are scarce. They are not 
scarce. The type of men that some of us are looking for are scarce. If I
 want to get married next week, I can. I want a man that I can look up 
to. Somebody that inspires me, somebody that will push me, motivate me; 
somebody who has had some success in his own career. I’m inspired by 
successful people. I can’t wait to meet someone like Tyler Perry.<br />
<br />

<b>Does that mean you can’t marry a poor man?</b><br />

No, I can’t marry a poor guy and I’m being honest about it. He doesn’t have to be rich but let him be successful in his own way.<br />
<br />

<b>Have you had to review you standards when it comes to men?</b><br />

When I was 30, my standards were extremely high. But I wasn’t really 
looking. I was just so focused on work because I’ve always been so 
ambitious. I wasn’t focused on marriage and kids and I felt like that 
would draw me back. So I wanted to just do my stuff. It was just 
recently that I started asking myself some questions. That I started 
thinking about it. Now, I have only three criteria.<br />
<br />

<b>What are the three?</b><br />

He must be successful. He must be a good man in the sense that he has
 to be very supportive of what I do. If he tries to stifle me, I’m out. 
The third one, is the one that likes to eat groceries well (laughs).<br />
<br />

<b>Do you think you’re controversial or just misunderstood?</b><br />

I don’t go out of my way to look for controversy. I think that maybe 
I’m misunderstood. People forget that blogging, even though it started 
as a passion, is now a business. There’s Linda the blogger and there’s 
Linda the person.<br />

Personally, if I was not a blogger, there are some things I won’t pay
 attention to, because I don’t care. I have things to do in my life. But
 because I’m a blogger, I have to pay attention to little gossip. I have
 to pay attention to who is clapping back because my readers wants to 
see all of that. But personally as a human being, I don’t wish anybody 
ill, I don’t want anybody to fail, I don’t want anybody to cry or feel 
bad about comments. I think I’m misunderstood which is fine because 
people who are close to me know me and those are the people that really 
matter.<br />
<br />

<b>Kemi Olunloyo once accused you of benefiting from Dasukigate…</b><br />

The reason I didn’t make an issue out of the Dasuki stuff is because 
it was overwhelming. I bought a house in Banana Island for half a 
billion and people can’t wrap their heads around it. They start thinking
 it has to be something shady. Up until the scandal blew open, I never 
heard about the man Dasuki. So I know I’m not guilty of anything.<br />
<br />

<b>When you get married, will you leave your Banana Island mansion?</b><br />

I will move to the man’s house; as long as it’s not a three bedroom flat.<br />
<br />

<b>Why do you feel comfortable talking about your age</b>?<br />

I read somewhere online where they said I’m 42. Let me tell you, it’s
 so easy to know someone’s age. Just find out the year they finished 
secondary school. I finished Lagos Anglican Girls Grammar School in 
1997. I was 16 going on 17. So if I’m 42, it means I finished secondary 
school in the 80s. The reason I talk about my age is because I was a 
model. In fact when I did my first show in 1998, I wasn’t up to 18. I 
had to lie that I was older than I was. I was 17 plus. How can I now be 
42 in 2016? People already know my age.<br />

 Wang said he was always athletic. An avid swimmer as a child, he still 
swims more than half a mile each day. “Morning is my learning time,” he 
said. “I read books and news. From 3 to 6 p.m. is my exercise time, in a

 1982, the clothes Chinese wore were so out of date,” he said. “I went

 clothes they had were fur coats, and for men, woolen Sun Yat-sen suits”
 — also known as Mao suits.</span></div>

Zuma faces no-confidence vote in corruption crisis.

 Africa’s Jacob Zuma faces a no-confidence vote in parliament next week 
with his presidency mired in crisis, after investigators documented 
allegations of government corruption.<br />

Thousands of people took to the streets to demand that he should resign from office.<br />

The vote was called by the main opposition, following a report by the
 country’s anti-corruption watchdog calling for a judicial inquiry into 
allegations of influence-peddling in the ANC Government.<br />

The report was finally released after the president withdrew a court 
bid to delay its publication in the face of mass public protests.<br />

Police used stun grenades and water cannon to disperse protesters in Pretoria carrying “Zuma must go’’ placards.<br />

Mmusi Maimane, leader of the main opposition Democratic Alliance 
(DA), told a news briefing in Cape Town that the no-confidence debate 
and vote was scheduled for Nov. 10.<br />

“This motion should not be viewed as a partisan motion – we do not see it as a DA motion.<br />

“I know there are ANC MPs and cabinet ministers who have had enough.<br />

They have an opportunity to actually do something about their anger by Nov. 10,’’ he said.<br />

Zuma has survived his two previous no-confidence votes this year, 
largely backed by the support of his ANC (African National Congress) 
which controls about two-thirds of the Assembly.<br />

A senior party official told Reuters that ANC lawmakers were unlikely to break ranks and support the motion this time round.<br />

However, there have been widening fissures in the ruling party this year.<br />

There is growing discontent with the scandals that have plagued 
Zuma’s presidency and played a role in the ANC suffering its worst 
electoral losses since the end of apartheid in municipal polls in 
August.

A Prophetic Monkey in China Picks Trump as Next US President

Ecological Tourism Park said Thursday in a statement on its website. 
Without even waiting, he congratulated the cardboard candidate with a 
kiss on the lips.<br />

The five-year-old simian correctly predicted Portugal would win the 
2016 European football championship in July, two days before Cristiano 
Ronaldo’s side prevailed 1-0, online news portal ifeng.com reported at 
the time.<br />

Then, the monkey was presented with the national flags of Portugal 
and France with bananas on both. It finally walked towards the national 
flag of Portugal and ate a banana there, the report said.<br />

Geda’s antics seem to have been inspired by the oracular octopus Paul.<br />

In 2010, Paul the Octopus became the world’s most famous mollusc when
 he foretold the results of every match played by Germany at the World 
Cup in South Africa, as well as Spain’s victory against the Netherlands 
in the final.

Fellow Nigerians, I really don’t know how you feel about the endless 
tension in our dear beloved country but I’m deeply troubled. I know it 
is in the character of those who have been seriously damaged and 
terribly frustrated by the Nigerian system to want to drop blood by all 
means. But has it ever achieved anything tangible? The answer is a big 
NO!<br />

I have been participating in street demonstrations since I entered 
the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) as a pioneer
 JAMBITE in the year of our Lord 1978. I have lost count of how many 
demonstrations we’ve had with its attendant collateral damages, 
including several untimely deaths. Wole Soyinka is over 80 today. He has
 been fighting to see a reasonable and competent government in Nigeria 
for as long as I can remember. One of the books I wished to find and 
read so desperately was The Man Died, a most volatile and controversial 
prison memoir, written by the Nobel laureate under very excruciating 
conditions by Soyinka.<br />

Soyinka’s friend, Christopher Okigbo, the famous poet, was not so 
lucky. He returned home to join the Biafra agitation for 
self-determination but lost his precious life to one of the dastardliest
 civil wars known to mankind. That genocide, if I can call it that, did 
not produce any sincere change at the end of the day.<br />

The gadfly, Gani Fawehinmi, probably suffered more detentions than 
any soul in Nigerian history. Like the irrepressible abiku, or ogbanje, 
Gani went in and out of prisons, including the much dreaded Gashua and 
Kuje and eventually succumbed to the merciless grip of cancer. Gani 
never saw the Nigeria of his dream. Ditto for the famous educationist, 
Tai Solarin. I remember the socialist crusader participating in a June 
12 procession and being tear-gassed despite being an asthmatic sufferer.
 He died soon after. Nigeria moved on as always.<br />

The apparent winner of the June 12, 1993, presidential election, 
Moshood Abiola, was the worst victim of all. After winning an election 
fair and square, he was rewarded with imprisonment and death. His 
businesses perished thus throwing his families and countless dependents 
into total commotion and famish. Still Nigerians carried on as 
lackadaisically as ever. As a matter of fact, the more you look, the 
less you are likely to see in our clime. We seem so hardened that 
nothing can move or touch us. Abiola died nearly 20 years ago but till 
this day, nothing has been done to honour him. That is who we are.<br />

We continue to live perpetually in strife. Governments come, 
governments go. Nigeria remains stuck in crisis. Every leader acts as if
 in competition with his predecessors. Bitterness in never too far away.
 I often wonder how many enemies Nelson Mandela would have butchered if 
he was a Nigeria. We simply lack the spirit of forgiveness. Nigeria is 
bleeding dangerously today as a result of our obstinate and fastidious 
romance with vindictiveness. Only God can rescue us.<br />

How I wish we could truly practice what our religions preach. Love is
 common to most faiths. But love is nowhere to be found. Let me go 
straight to my point. Nigeria is 56 years old as an independent nation. 
In those energy-sapping years, Nigeria has known no real peace. Nigeria 
has acquired unenviable notoriety as a sordidly corrupt nation. 
Different governments came and promised to wipe out corruption but 
they’ve never been able to even scratch on the surface. The modus 
operandi have been one and the same and yet we expect different results.
 More often than nothing, the targets are so predictable. And there are 
always enough acolytes to support anything under the son.<br />

Today, former President, Goodluck Jonathan is the biggest villain in 
Nigeria. Everyone who cares knows I was never his fan. His government 
messed up big time. But there is one thing he did that no reasonable 
person should ever forget, he averted war in Nigeria last year. He set a
 new standard for our polluted political climate by calling his main 
opponent and conceding defeat in an unprecedented manner. We can easily 
take this gesture for granted because we escaped another massacre in our
 country but this was a heroic feat deed indeed.<br />

Goodluck Jonathan governed for five full years as President and did 
his best even if he performed below expectation. I’ve watched with 
incredulity how we’ve all suddenly become saints and Jonathan and his 
gang have become the super demons. The biggest crime they committed was 
to divert monies meant for security. Some were recklessly shared and 
others were spent mindlessly on funding elections. Very bad, no doubt. 
It would be nice to retrieve as much as can be traced, certainly. But I 
wish to humbly submit that this must be done without appearing to be 
vengeful.<br />

We all know how elections are funded in Nigeria. If we get down to 
brass tacks, there would be none without blemish. Most elections are 
funded with proceeds of corruption. Presidential elections alone would 
easily and readily gulp billions of Naira. It is usually the 
responsibility of governors to mobilise resources by throwing the states
 vaults open for the bazaar. This is the reality, whether we admit it or
 not. When tomorrow comes, we may be prolonging doomsday by engaging in 
this ding dong affair.<br />

I was particularly miffed by the travails of the erstwhile 
Presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati. While we should not condone an act
 of abuse of office, I fail to see what made his case so special when 
there are many fat cats roaming the streets with their loot. Unless 
there are other details not known to us, Reuben was given money by a 
superior. I wouldn’t have expected him to ask or know the source of the 
fund. Such minor infractions can be overlooked and should be forgiven 
while the billionaire politicians that litter everywhere should be of 
primary target. A man carrying elephant on his head should never worry 
about ants on the ground. We have more than enough problems to grapple 
with. Some people ruled Nigeria for 50 years and frittered away most of 
the resources, especially the oil money. If they were allowed to roam 
freely, we should be careful how we treat Jonathan.<br />

We should not touch the tiger by the tail.<br />

A TOAST TO THE SULTAN OF SOKOTO<br />

It gives me great pleasure to propose this toast to one of Africa’s 
greatest monarchs, Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad III. I met him one on one last
 year when I accompanied my best friend, Adedamola Aderemi, the Prince 
of Ile-Ife, on a visit to the historic city of Uthman Dan Fodio. It was 
such an exhilarating experience for us.<br />

As conservative as we expected The Sultan to be, he was surprisingly 
progressive. Since then, we’ve remained in communication. I call him and
 he makes the effort to call back and we usually chat like old buddies. I
 have grown very fond of him. Once I hear “hello Mr Ovation”, I know His
 Eminence is on the line. He is a truly remarkable and cerebral leader. A
 man who is well loved by his people and respected around the country, 
for promoting peace and stability.<br />

As the 20<sup>th</sup> Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence has 
increasingly transformed himself into a national symbol of unity, and 
that is why it is necessary to celebrate this scion of the great 
Caliphate who is marking his 10<sup>th</sup> anniversary on the throne.

Federal Government Pays 81 Months Pension Arrears

The
 Federal Government has paid 81 months pension arrears which were 
incurred from 33 per cent pension increment but left 87 months 
outstanding.<br />

The money was paid to Police, Customs, Immigration, Prisons  and civil service pensioners.<br />

A detailed  breakdown of paid pension arrears and outstanding months 
were made available to journalists in Abuja, when the Senate Committee 
on Establishment and Public Service, chaired by Senator Emmanuel 
Paulker, visited the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate for 
its oversight functions.<br />

According to the documents, three months of 33 per cent increment 
were paid to Police Pension Department, leaving outstanding of 39 months
 to Customs, Immigration and Prisons Pension Department which had all 
its 42 months arrears paid off.<br />

The Parastatals Pension Department had its 12 months arrears paid to leave 30 months outstanding.<br />

The Civil Service Pension Department was paid 24 months leaving 18 months outstanding.<br />
Similarly, the 33 percent pension payment came as a fall out of the upward review of the minimum wage to N18,000 in 2010.

FG: Economic Recovery Plan Ready by December

The
 Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, 
has said that the national economic recovery plan for the next three 
years will be ready next.<br />

She explained at an economics communications workshop in Abuja on 
Thursday that the plan would serve as a guide for the preparation of 
annual budgets and would be a continuation of the initiatives contained 
in the Strategic Implementation Plan for the 2016 budget.<br />

According to her, the plan will clearly state the economic policies 
of the government that will guide the investment decisions by domestic 
and foreign investors.<br />

Ahmed said, “The plan is expected to build on the policies, 
initiatives, programmes and projects contained in the Strategic 
Implementation Plan for the 2016 budget. The economic recovery plan is 
expected to guide the economic management and budgeting process over the
 short to medium-term.<br />

“Government will continue to put in place policies to expand the 
revenue base, plug leakages in the system, ensure greater transparency 
and accountability in the use of public funds, pursue job creation and 
support businesses and investments, especially local investments to 
grow.<br />

“Approach adopted for the preparation of the plan is highly 
participatory and all-inclusive, with the private sector being actively 
involved in the process.”<br />

In his keynote address, the Chief Executive Officer, Economic 
Associates, Dr Ayo Teriba, proposed a holistic approach to economic 
reform to encourage the inflow of foreign direct investment rather than 
demand restriction or price adjustment.<br />

He identified the Diaspora funds as an immediate and steady source of
 foreign currencies and extensive infrastructural development as sources
 of the FDI in the long term.<br />

Teriba explained that the impressive foreign investment and growth 
experienced in the telecommunications sector since 2001 could be allowed
 in other critical sectors.<br />

He called for the liberalisation of the power sector, rail transport,
 gas pipelines, power transmission and housing, among others.<br />

The economist suggested an integrated infrastructural development in 
which pipelines could be constructed underneath the rail tracks and 
power transmission network above the rail tracks.<br />

The policy directive needed, according to him, is to break 
government’s monopoly across all infrastructure and allow foreign 
investors to play more role.<br />

He said, “The experience of the telecoms companies that arrived in 
Nigeria in 2001 when the government liberalised the sector that had been
 a government monopoly since independence is a testament to the huge 
growth and investment opportunities that Nigeria presents.<br />

“Nigeria had only 300,000 telephone lines in 2001, but these companies have raised that number to more than 160 million today.”

Bello Mahmud, Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), has said Nigerians no longer need a lawyer to register 
their businesses with the commission.<br />

He said on Thursday at the second presidential economic communication workshop in Abuja.<br />

The Federal Government of Nigeria has 
employed 200, 000 graduates to work as teachers and agricultural 
extension workers across the country. Laolu Akande, senior special 
assistant to the vice president on media, disclosed this at the second 
presidential economic communication workshop in Abuja on Friday.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“We have selected 200,000 graduates out 
of 500,000. This is the first batch. One hundred and fifty thousand will
 work as teachers while 50, 000 will work as extension workers. Their 
pay which is 30, 000 per month, will go directly into their account.?” 
he said.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He said the selection process was 
completed “a couple of weeks back,” but that BVN? screening for the 
candidates delayed the exercise. Akande explained that the new employees
 would work in their states of residence, and that their local 
governments would be in charge of their supervision?.</div>

He added that another leg of the social 
intervention programme, which is conditional cash transfer to the poor, 
would kick off soon.</div>

NJC suspends 7 senior judges accused of corruption.

The
 National Judicial Council, NJC, has suspended seven senior judges 
arrested in October by the State Security Service for alleged 
corruption.<br />

The NJC had initially refused to suspend the judges despite public 
pressure, saying the allegations against them had not been 
substantiated.<br />

It however said the judges had voluntarily stepped down from court sittings.<br />

The latest decision came after the council’s 7th meeting between Wednesday and Thursday.<br />

A communique issued at the end of the meeting, and signed by NJC’s 
Director of Information, Soji Oye, said the decision was taken to avoid 
allowing persons under investigation to to partake in presiding over 
judicial matters at the same time.<br />

“Council also decided that Judicial Officers shall not be standing 
trial for alleged corruption related offences and be performing judicial
 functions at the same time,” the communique said. “Council however 
decided that it will ensure that Judicial Officers who are being 
investigated for alleged high profile criminal offences do not perform 
judicial functions until their cases are concluded.”<br />

The judges were arrested on October 7.

Detained former presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, has told the 
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission that he does not have any money
 to refund to the government, sources within the agency said.<br />

The sources told PREMIUM TIMES that Mr. Abati told interrogators that
 he had no immediate means of sourcing the amount for which he is being 
detained.<br />

The EFCC accuses Mr. Abati of receiving N50 million from the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.<br />

The money was part of $2.1 billion allocated for purchase of arms for the fight against Boko Haram, the EFCC says.<br />

Mr. Dasuki is currently standing trial for allegedly misusing the money.<br />

The latest development came days after Mr. Abati reportedly promised to refund N5 million.<br />

The former presidential spokesperson has been in EFCC detention since turning himself in last week Monday.<br />

Apart from being unable to refund the money, Mr. Abati also allegedly
 told investigators that he could not provide documentary evidence 
showing how he spent the N50 million.<br />

Mr. Abati reportedly said he disbursed the money as cash and material gifts to journalists during the 2015 campaign.<br />

Asked to name names of media practitioners who benefited from the largess, Mr. Abati said he did not keep such records.<br />

“We thought he would be able to pay N5 million yesterday, but it 
turned out that he doesn’t have any money,” a source told PREMIUM TIMES 
Monday.<br />

Our source also clarified that Mr. Abati had met his bail conditions since Friday, but the EFCC had refused to release him.<br />

The EFCC had on October 26 granted Mr. Abati an administrative bail, 
and required as one of the conditions for his release, a surety of the 
level of director in the federal civil service.<br />

Those conditions were met on Friday, our source said, but the EFCC 
failed to release him because of the stalemate over the N50 million.<br />

The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, did not respond to requests for comment.

A Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Thursday slammed a one
 million naira bail on a 33-year-old man, Roland Olise, for alleged 
defilement of a six-year-old girl in a church in Lagos.<br />

Olise, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to a one-count charge of defilement.<br />

The Chief Magistrate, Ipaye Nwachukwu, ordered the accused to produce two sureties in like sum.<br />

Nwachukwu said one of the surety must be a property owner in Lagos 
State, while the other must be a civil servant on grade level 14.<br />

She said the sureties must provide evidence of tax payments to the 
government, and adjourned the case till Jan. 19, 2017 for mention.<br />

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Anthonia Osayande, told the court that the 
accused committed the offence at a church at Ajah-Lekki Area in Lagos at
 about 6.00 p.m on Oct. 21.<br />

Osayande said the accused, who was a church worker, was in church and he
 saw the six-year-old girl passing and he called her into the church 
where there wasn’t any body around and defiled her.<br />

She said that the girl knew the man as the church was there family 
church and that was why she comfortably entered the church with him.?<br />

The offence contravened Sections 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.

that it had received another order from the United Kingdom for scent 
leaf, popularly called Nchuanwu, this is coming after successfully exporting Ugu

Awka, were given three water pumps each with suction and discharge 
facilities, a special type of fertilizer and some quantities of the 
scent leaves.<br />

Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on UNDP and 
Foreign Donors, Mrs. Nneka Onwudiwe, urged the farmers to work hard to 
meet the terms of the UK order.<br />

She said: “Usually we do dry season farming, but because the state is
 exporting vegetables, we decided to grow Nchuanwu at this time because 
we have ready up-takers, who will export the vegetable so that we can 
meet the demand of those who have placed orders.”

The
 National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, John Oyegun has 
said he will do everything possible including “fasting and prayer” to 
ensure that President Muhammadu Buhari re-contest the 2019 Presidential 
election, stressing that Nigeria will be better for it.<br />

Explaining the rationale behind his remark, Oyegun claimed that only 
Buhari has the moral courage to ensure the change Nigerians need is 
actualized.</div>
Oyegun stressed that the President is the only politician that has the capacity to win 12 million votes without major campaigns.<br />
Speaking in an interview, Oyegun said, “I will pray, fast to God that
 Buhari agrees to contest in 2019. If he contests, Nigeria will be 
better for it.<br />
“My prayer is that we can get Buhari to re-contest in 2019. We don’t 
know his mind yet, but I will do anything in my power to ensure that he 
re-contests in 2019. Why? He is the only one who has the moral front and
 the courage to make the changes that Nigeria needs.<br />
“We need more than four years to get this country to subscribe to a 
new morality, a new ethic and turn its back on corruption of the very 
type we are trying to uproot now.<br />
“There is no another Buhari in this country. Buhari is the only man 
who can command 12 million votes even without any major campaign. So, 
you can see the picture. Yes, there will be changes, the party will get 
new members or lose a few members, but there is no Peoples Democratic 
Party (PDP). So, there is no strong party any more to say you are going 
to join and strengthen it. It is only APC that is really a strong 
party.”<br />
Oyegun, has recently revealed that those against his continued stay 
as national chairman of the ruling party were politicians scheming to 
take over control of the APC ahead of the 2019 elections.

President Robert Mugabe has told President Jacob Zuma: 
“We are happy you are still in one piece in spite of what the papers are
 writing every day.”<br />
<br />

Speaking at the opening of a Bi-National Commission in Harare on 
Thursday, the 92-year old leader told his South African counterpart: 
“Comrade president, we need each other even more now than before.”<br />
<br />

Both leaders are facing growing calls for them to step down, Mugabe 
from #ThisFlag protesters and Zuma in the wake of the 
#StateCaptureReport.<br />
<br />

Mugabe, who has been in power since 1980, said Zimbabwe and South 
Africa “face renewed assaults on our independence and sovereignty”.<br />
<br />

The Zimbabwe president spoke in a much weaker voice than normal and 
hesitated at times during his speech. There have been concerns over his 
health for a long time.<br />
<br />

Following a couple of embarrassing stumbles in public in recent 
months, cameras from the state broadcaster resolutely refuse to focus on
 the nonagenarian as he walks to a podium to give a speech. Thursday was
 no different, with the cameras fixed on the seated audience.

I Felt like Absconding When I Assumed Office – Buhari

 Muhammadu Buhari says he felt like “absconding” after seeing the 
enormity of the challenges facing the country when he assumed office in 
May 2015.<br />

He was speaking on Thursday during a parley with participants of the 
Senior Executive Course 38 of the National Institute for Policy and 
Strategic Studies (NIPPS) at the state house in Abuja.<br />

He again blamed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Nigeria’s economic woes.<br />

Buhari said: “For 16 years and eight consecutive governments of the 
other party… there was unprecedented revenue realised, the oil 
projection which can be verified was 2.1 million barrels per day. From 
1999-2015 the average cost of each Nigerian barrel of oil was $100 per 
barrel.<br />

“When we came it fell to less than $30 per barrel and is now between 
40 and 50. Actually I felt like absconding because 27 out of 36 states 
in Nigeria cannot pay salaries and we know they have no other source 
than to depend on salaries.<br />

“And I asked any savings? I was told there were no savings. And I 
asked what have you done on agriculture, power, rails, roads? Nothing. 
You know more than I do because you move around. I have not been moving 
around since after elections but you do. How many of the Trunk A 
(federal) roads are still good enough?<br />

“How much power do we have although there are some elements of 
sabotage. I was told the money was users to import food and fuel. I 
didn’t believe the answer and I still don’t believe it. Until now 
substantial number of people in the east eat garri and groundnut, in the
 west pounded yam, cassava, vegetables, in the north tuwo which is made 
from any of the grains, millet, sorghum. They eat it in the night and 
warm it in the morning and eat it and take fura dinunu in the afternoon.
 How many of those people can afford foreign food?<br />

“Then they said I should check out the petroleum sector. The 
legislature dedicated 445,000 barrels per day to the refineries and that
 is just 60 per cent of our requirements.<br />

“I said OK, what of the 40 per cent? The marketers that are bringing 
it just present documents, papers are just stamped and monies are taken 
away. This is the type of things that the Nigerian elites are doing for 
our own country. When you go back look at your colleagues and encourage 
them to be truly Nigerians.”

The Executive Governor of Imo state and Chairman of the APC Governors forum, Rochas 
Okorocha, has said that APC has not been able to manage its God-given 
victory well, close to two years after the party won the 
presidential election.<br />

Okorocha said this when he paid a visit to APC members in the Senate. He
 visited the Senators to seek solutions to the cold relationship between
 the executive arm of government, the National Assembly and the party in general.<br />

Progressives Governors' Forum - your friends and colleagues in the

asking for change in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I recall vividly 
the role most of you played in that very struggle. We became a 
government when no one gave us a chance to be so. And shortly, Nigerians

 manage this God-given victory very well and it is very worrisome, Mr. 
Senate President. That Nigerians expects so much from us but yet we seem

need to make as a party. One wonders then what went wrong. Where did we

the system - from the party, from the legislature, from the executive, 
from the governors - and it seems to me like there is no more platform 
for us to chant those old songs which we used to sing in the days of 
struggle for change. One wonders, was this what we were asking for or 
was this the change we were asking for. </i></blockquote>

I think Nigerians expect so much from us and at the end of it all. 
Nigerians will not ask us, how many of each other we have been able to 
destroy or how many we have been able to bring down. But they will ask 
us how many plates of food have we put on the table of the common man 
who elected us. So, I am here Mr. President of the Senate to call for 
unity among us and our party. And to sheath our sword in whatever form 
anger has gotten to us. We noticed and we know that we are a party in 
majority at the National Assembly and we are a party with majority in 
the number of governors - state houses of assembly - but we notice there
 is no cordial relationship between the Governors, the Executive and the
 legislature. And let me reemphasize that in all these arms of 
government, it is only the legislature with the executive that are the 
elected members. Not the Judiciary. And Nigerians will hold us 
responsible as the executive and legislative arms of government. So, we 
must act quickly to ensure peace reigns among us. I have discussed with 
the party - that was my first point of call - to seek what we must do to
 forge a way forward. </i></blockquote>

The Governors recently met with the President all in a bid to move this 
party forward and bring about unity. Today, I am before you, the Senate 
President, number three citizen of this country and I ask you to use

enjoy those things that PDP used to enjoy when they were a majority in 
the National Assembly. The APC government must see you as majority in 
the National Assembly not minority in the house. My Senate President, my

expected and two wrongs can never make a right. It takes one arm of a 
relationship to make good the other. I liken my situation to what I see 
in my own government that it is difficult to succeed as an executive if

address the leadership of our party very soon. But before then, I think

The latest Reuters/Ipsos daily tracking poll released on Wednesday, 
showed the Democratic candidate holding the same 6 percentage point 
advantage over Republican Donald Trump  among likely voters.

She held the same margin  before an FBI announcement that reignited the controversy about her email practices.<br />

The Oct. 28-Nov. 1 opinion poll was conducted almost entirely after 
FBI Director James Comey notified Congress last Friday his agency would 
examine newly discovered emails that might pertain to Clinton’s use of a
 private email server while she was secretary of state.<br />

Comey said he did not know whether the emails were significant and 
released no information other than that they existed. His announcement 
drew outrage from Democrats who voiced concern it would unfairly 
influence voters so close to next week’s election. Trump and other 
Republicans seized on the news to revive questions about Clinton’s 
credibility.<br />

Among 1,772 people who have either voted already or were identified 
as likely voters in the Nov. 8 election, 45 percent said they supported 
Clinton, while 39 percent said they backed Trump. On Thursday, the day 
before Comey’s announcement, Clinton led Trump by 43 percent to 37 
percent. In a four-way poll that included alternative party candidates, 
Clinton led Trump by 8 percentage points among likely voters.<br />

Forty-five percent supported Clinton, while 37 percent backed Trump. 
Five percent supported Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson and 2 percent 
backed Jill Stein of the Green Party. Other national polls have shown 
Clinton’s lead shrinking over the past week.<br />

RealClearPolitics, which averages most major opinion polls, showed 
Clinton’s lead had narrowed to 1.7 points on Wednesday from 4.6 points 
last Friday. The Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted online in English in 
all 50 states.<br />

It had a credibility interval, a measure of accuracy, of 3 percentage
 points. Clinton’s position is stronger than national polls imply given 
that the race is decided by the Electoral College system of tallying 
wins from the states. Some 270 electoral votes are needed to win and 
Democrats have a built-in advantage, with large states such as 
California and New York traditionally voting Democratic.<br />

Clinton looked likely to win at least 226 electoral votes, leaving 
her needing 44 votes to pick up from the 132 votes at stake in “toss-up”
 states such as Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Iowa, Arizona, 
Colorado and Nevada, according to estimates by RealClearPolitics on 
Wednesday afternoon. Trump, on the other hand, has a steeper path to 
climb, looking likely to win 180 electoral votes and so needing 90 of 
the 132 votes from the current battleground states, the website showed.<br />

Both candidates are focusing their final campaign efforts on those 
crucial states. Clinton has been spending a lot of time in Florida, 
which yields a rich haul of 29 electoral votes.<br />

In a tight race there, the RealClearPolitics average of polls from Florida put Trump one point ahead of Clinton on Wednesday.<br />

“No state is more important, and it’s close,” a Clinton aide told 
reporters on Tuesday. “It’s a state that Trump has to win … we don’t 
believe he has any path without Florida.”

the Lagos-Shagamu side of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway has announced the 
plan to temporarily close down a section of the Ibadan - Lagos 
Expressway from Sagamu Inter change to approximately five kilometer 
stretch of the Lagos bound traffic to enable the Company effect repairs 
on the affected section of the corridor.<br />

2016. The closure would be effected from 1100 am on Thursday 03 
November, 2016. The Federal Road Safety Corps in a statement released

The Corps will also ensure proper signages are in place to guide all 
road users. All users of the road during the period of temporary closure
 are advised to obey the directional signs and comply with the traffic 
rules and regulations as the FRSC will not hesitate to apply appropriate
 sanctions for violations. These include prosecution of arrested traffic
 law offenders whose actions will compound the traffic situations.
