The
Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has disclosed that the
Federal Government will rehabilitate the international wing of the Port
Harcourt Airport with N1.685 billion.
Sirika told State House correspondents
that the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved the contract
which was awarded to Messers Entaba.
He said the council also approved the contract for the
refurbishment of the airport terminal building, phase II domestic wing,
from N746,830,782.12 to N1,411,662,855.67.
He said the projects were captured in the 2016 and 2017 budgets,
assuring that they would be completed very soon as the Port Harcourt
Airport “has been tagged the worst airport in the world, but by the
grace of God and the wisdom of council, it will be completed.”
He said the government was addressing as airport security and
safety, adding a stakeholders’ meeting would hold by the end of this
month.
The minister also stated that the FEC approved the bilateral
agreement against double taxation with Kenya. He added that the council
also approved the ratification of the Climate Change Paris Agreement.
