Popular Hausa singer who specialized in weird songs for Night
crawlers (Barayi), Alhaji Muhammadu Gambu has died at the age of 80. Gambo
died at the in Maiyama General Hospital in Kebbi State and is survived
by four wives, 16 children and many grandchildren.
His songs traversed the length and breath of west Africa and middle
East and became famous with songs dedicated to notable and sometimes
fictitious thieves who like magicians operated openly and mysteriously
in and around Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States in the late seventies and
eighties.
