The Nigerian Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Thursday appointed Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Whip of the Senate in acting capacity.
The Senator representing Lagos central from the ruling The All Progressives Congress (APC) acted as chief whip of the senate in the absence of both Olusola Adeyeye, substantive chief whip of the upper legislative chamber, and his deputy.
Tinubu was Chief Whip in acting capacity for only 25 minutes because the Senate adjourned its sitting to May 12, shortly after it sat due to the congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which some of its members were attending.
This is shortest duration for which the eighth Senate has sat, since its inauguration on June 9, 2015.
Also, Tinubu has become the only acting chief whip to hold the position for only 25 minutes.
