Another fire outbreak gutted Gwarzo market in Gwarzo local government area of Kano state on Thursday, destroying property worth millions of naira.

A witness told NAN that the incident occurred around 1 am.

He said the inferno destroyed the entire furniture section of the market before it was put out by men of the fire service.

When contacted Mustapha Rulwan, director of the state’s fire service, confirmed the incident.

He said the fire started around 1:45 am and destroyed 30 shops in the furniture section of the market.

“We got the report of the incident around 1:45 am and our men in Gwarzo office were able to quench the fire around 3:25 am today (Friday),” he said.

“Our preliminary investigation indicated that the fire spread to the shops and other places when some traders attempted to burn sawdust.”

Rulwan warned people to take precautionary measures while using fire.
