Eli Lazarus, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 2nd Brigade stationed in Port Harcourt, confirmed that Nigerian soldiers on patrol were attacked at 11am today.
The the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 2nd Brigade stationed in Port Harcourt, confirmed that Nigerian soldiers on patrol were attacked at 11am today.

Mr. Lazarus stated that “troops on patrol in Abonemma, Akukutoru LGA of Rivers State had a fierce encounter with a group of unknown gunmen suspected to be sea pirates.”

During the encounter “an officer and a soldier who sustained various degree of injury lost their lives.” He added that the military was in pursuit of the gunmen and was confident that they would be apprehended.

Mr. Lazarus urged the public to go about their lawful activities and that the military would work to ensure peace and security in the area.
